Junior Camp 2011

“Sir, yes, sir,” was heard regularly as the campers lined up for meals in boot camp style addressing dean Michael Coghlin as “Boss Man.” Not only this but before they went in to eat, they recited their memorization of Ephesians 6:10-20 our theme verses for the “Armour of God” theme.  Mornings were spent cleaning cabins for inspection, singing some fun action music, listening to puppets describe the main Bible character talked about that day, working on memory verses and practicing skits to present later that day.  At the craft centre, they worked on a complete set of armour out of cardboard, duct tape and other decoration. The first part of the week was cloudy so there wasn’t much water-based recreation but kids enjoyed the obstacle course, archery and other games. Once the sun came out, there was slip & slide, water fights and swimming.  In the evening, they had more music, a review of the day’s teaching including the skits prepared earlier and of course campfire time with more fun music and testimonies from the summer staff.
